Many people talk about sales funnels, but no one explains how it really works. To help you understand sales funnels, I’ve highlighted 4 steps that if pulled off perfectly, will lead to an endless stream of clients/customers.

  1. Lead magnet: A free product or service that is beneficial to the customer. The goal here is to gain the attention of your target market; to get their contacts or convince them to subscribe.
  2. Tripwire: A cheap or shareware product that solves the customer’s problems without free of charge. This will be more effective if it is a unique offer.
  3. Main product: The product/service that rakes in profit for you.
  4. Profit maximizer: A collection of goods/services that can be combined to increase your earning potential.

Here are some examples from different niches to help you understand the concept better:

  1. Online English Language Training

Lead magnet: Video — “How to learn English in 15 minutes per day.”

RipTripWare: Enjoy your first Skype tutorial free of charge.

Main product: An online English course via Skype.

Profit maximizer: An advanced course + one-on-one lessons with a native English speaker.

  1. Manufacture of Furniture and Kitchen Cabinets

Main product: Buying and installing a kitchen set.

Profit maximizer: Buying cabinets and sliding wardrobes at a discount.
